Well they overcharge ALOT. I went several months ago to ask about replacing my damaged keyboard on the laptop. They wanted like roughly $400 for service and an oem keyboard part…
I couldn’t afford that and then I went in several weeks ago since I saw that I could buy the keyboard part online for $50 and asked how much it would be for them to to just install the part if I provided the keyboard. They looked at me like I was a 2 year old child and started to lecture me on how parts that are not OEM are blah blah blah and I assured them that the part WAS in fact an OEM and the price they wanted was $300 and they basically continued to treat me like we were in the 40s and I like a stupid and blank mail order asian wife who should stay in the kitchen instead of venturing out to the world of big burly smelly testosterone…
Anyways… I bought the part on ebay for $30. It was OEM and I popped in and had my laptop fixed in less then 5 minutes. Now if I could actually do the equations out, that would mean that these people at compusa charge $1500 an hour for service…
Also… I needed to buy a CAT5 cable and seeing how compusa was going out of business, I went there with Sam and James. First off… they were having a 30%-70% off going out of business sale which was not very sale-like at all. They wanted $80 for the mouse I have in my hands that I am using right now to navigate which I paid $40… then the CAT5 cable… for 3 feet of it they wanted $19.99. No, it was not made of gold, it did not have precious gems embedded onto it, it did not have retractable attachments, it was the belken brand cable. Not even a CAT6 but the older CAT5. Well I promptly went to walmart and bought one for $2.99, the same plain belken brand CAT5 cable…
I needed to get that appalling travesty off my chest…
